TPN wins new health and safety accreditation ISO 45001

TPN is proud to have achieved its fifth major accreditation for safety, environmental care or the quality of its operations since 2017. Its latest accolade is the new international standard for occupational health and safety, ISO 45001.

ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety management replaces the OHSAS 18001 which TPN gained in 2018. The new standard reduces workplace risks to improve employee safety, focusing on operational best practice. Companies must demonstrate practical and effective safety management systems which reduce the likelihood of accidents, or breaches of legislation, and which also improve the organisation’s overall performance.

Steve Underwood, Health Safety Environmental & Quality Manager at TPN, says upgrading to the new and more demanding standard was a natural progression for the company.

“Excellence is our core value, and that means continual improvement of our standards and our operations. It’s one thing to claim this – the standards are there to ensure that you act on it. A large part of my job is to ensure that we always put safety and quality at the heart of what we do in every practical sense,” he says.

Since 2017 TPN has won ISO 9001 quality accreditation for its own and its Member TPN operations, with its annual audit of members itself accredited to ISO 9001.

It has also gained its ISO 14001 for environmental care; and its ISO 27001 for its IT security and risk management processes.
